Sometimes life will throw you into situations beyond your control. All of a sudden, affording your continued education is in jeopardy. Kappa doesn’t believe these circumstances should prevent anyone from obtaining a degree, which is why the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation offers more than 150 scholarships that provide financial assistance to our initiated members.

of Kappa Kappa Gamma Scholarship Guidelines
The Albuquerque Alumnae Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma sponsors the following scholarships. Please help spread the word to active members that these are available.
The Sister Salute Memorial Gift Fund Scholarship
Awarded primarily on the basis of merit as determined by the selected Albuquerque Alumnae Association Scholarship Committee. In making a determination, the selection committee will consider academic standing, service to the Chapter, service to Panhellenic, as well as service to the University community. If the applicant completes the Financial information section of the application, anticipated financial need will also be considered as a secondary consideration.
The Albuquerque Alumnae Association Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of both merit and anticipated financial need (if the application completes the Financial Information section of the application) as determined by the selected Albuquerque Alumnae Association Scholarship Committee. In making a determination, the selection committee will consider academic standing, service to the Chapter and the University community as well as anticipated financial need.
- Eligibility
To be eligible for these scholarships the recipient must be an active member in good standing of Gamma Beta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma, as defined the by Constitution, Bylaws and Standing Rules of Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity. Members in good standing shall be those who have paid their current dues, who have met the requirements of the Bylaws, and have upheld the Fraternity standards of conduct and scholarship. The member must meet the following criteria:- She may not be an uninitiated or Associate Member;
- She must be enrolled as a full-time student (12+ hours) during the semester for which the scholarship is awarded;
- She may not have any outstanding debts to either the Gamma Beta Chapter or the University of New Mexico.

Albuquerque Alumnae Association of
Kappa Kappa Gamma Need-Based Scholarship
The Albuquerque Alumnae Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma sponsors a minimum of one need based scholarship per semester.
Eligibility
To be eligible for these scholarships the recipient must be an active member of Gamma Beta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma, as defined the by Constitution, Bylaws and Standing Rules of Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity. Members shall be those who have upheld the Fraternity standards of conduct and scholarship and have demonstrated financial hardship. The member must meet the following criteria:
- She may not be an uninitiated or Associate Member;
- She must be enrolled as a full-time student (12+ hours) during the semester for which the scholarship is awarded;
- She must provide written documentation of her financial hardship.
Basis of Award
The Need-Based Scholarship will be awarded to any active member who meets the above criteria on a first come, first serve basis. She must demonstrate financial hardship with the past 6 months. She must demonstrate a desire to pursue her academic career and uphold the standards and ideals of the Fraternity. She must communicate her situation and intentions to the chapter by meeting with the Standards Committee prior to her application. She must indicate a strong desire and intention to pursue employment, loans, grants, or other scholarships in order to ensure her financial stability in the future.
Financial Hardship: A financial hardship shall be defined as a state of affairs where a member or her parents or care giver who claims the member as a dependent on their Federal Income Taxes has exhausted their finances due to an unforeseen life event. Events shall be defined as, but are not limited to, a divorce, bankruptcy, loss of employment by a parent or primary care giver, death or an illness within the member’s immediate family which has exhausted funds. Written documentation of the financial hardship shall be provided by the member and her parents or primary care giver. Applicant must be currently enrolled as a full time student.
Application Procedure
The applicant must provide the selection committee with the following:
- A completed application form (Fill it out at http://gammabeta.org/)
- A letter describing in detail the applications qualifications for the scholarship and the circumstances of financial hardship.
- A signature from the Standards Advisor
The scholarship is not renewable and an applicant may not apply more than once.
Deadline
The deadline to apply for the Sister Salute Memorial Gift Fund Scholarship or the Albuquerque Alumnae Association Scholarship is September 28, 2018.
Procedure for Receipt of the Scholarship
The recipients will be informed by the Scholarship Chairman if her application has been accepted. The Alumnae association will forward the money to the UNM Foundation which will in turn make it available through the UNM Financial Aid Office to the recipient. Arrangements for a tuition deferment may need to be made by the recipient through the UNM Financial Aid Office.
